CFAC Adds More! Please Welcome The Epilogues...

Concert For A Cause has added yet another band, and they are coming from Denver, Colorado. Please welcome The Epilogues! This band has a great mix of Indie Rock with a healthy serving of dance/electronica. Here is a little more info on them via their myspace-
It's probably safe to say that the most commonly asked question for a band is, "what do you sound like?" But after four years, The Epilogues still struggle to find an answer, but it's not for lack of trying. The four piece band out of Denver, CO has been shrugging in response to that question for most of its existence. The Epilogues began as two friends (singer/guitarist Chris Heckman and keyboardist Nathaniel Hammond) hoping to create something different in the Denver scene. After years of experimenting with tones and effects, as well as the additions of drummer Jason Hoke and bassist Jeff Swoboda, the band eventually stumbled onto the sound that would, in fact, set them apart from the rest. If you wanted to keep it vague, you could call them indie rock or even synth rock, but past that, the genre lines begin to blur. In their debut EP, "The Beautiful, The Terrifying," The Epilogues have somehow managed to successfully walk the line between mainstream and experimental music. The tracks seamlessly transition between such radio-friendly, pop-rock tracks as "Hurting You" and less traditional, electronic-influenced tracks like "On the Radio" or "Caroline." While there is no shortage of influences that gave rise to these songs, The Epilogues have a sound that is very much all their own. Meshing dark undertones with infectious dance hooks, you may not know what to call it, but one thing is certain... The Epilogues are a rare breed and are bound for the national spotlight.

Chad Korb to Emcee...

This year Concert For A Cause will have an emcee and we are pleased to announce Chad Korb as this year's emcee. This will be a new twist as CFAC has never had an emcee before. We also spoke with Chad and he can't say he's ever emceed a concert before. One things for sure, you will be laughing... hopefully with us rather then at. Here's a little bio on Mr. Korb. Enjoy!-

Many comics like to tell you they are zany, have a fresh point-of-view, a unique outlook on life, and stories that will make you laugh until you cry. Oh, they will promise to have you holding your sides and rolling in the aisles. This isn’t to say that Chad doesn’t offer those qualities in his stand-up comedy, but he’ll never tell you that because it’s phony and pretentious. Like any art, some of you will love his comedy, while others would rather hear about airplane food, henpecking spouses, and/or explosive fart anecdotes.

Chad has spent most all his life in Montana, which means anywhere he performs, he’s just happy to see people. One would not suspect him to come from rural America, as he hates guns, opposes racism (and finds it to be simply a weird belief structure), and he thinks drugs should be legal, yet somehow he seems to find humor in tragedy.

Chad also grew up in a heavy-handed Catholic household, but declines to comment on those experiences.

For Mr. Korb, it seems as if he delights in attacking societal norms. He likes to take things people hold as conventional wisdom, and turn it on its ear. No subject is taboo, as he feels that anything is fair game for humor.

Chad is relatively young in the game, but he is hungry to perform and entertain. He performs across the country at clubs and colleges with a high-energy act. As a teenager, he stole jokes from every comic on television. Now, he writes his own material. Actually, he writes a lot. In addition to performing stand-up comedy, he is the editor-in-chief of Piece Magazine, which some have said looks like what would happen if Jon Stewart was running Maxim. If you are looking for fat comics with camouflage hats and sleeveless flannels, you’ll be better off going home, turning on the TV and eating macaroni.

Downtime To Open CFAC...

Downtime will be performing first at this year's Concert For A Cause. Make sure to be at YVB at 4pm. Don't miss it!

Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center's Meadowlark House...

This year's 6th Annual Concert For A Cause will split the proceeds between two great causes! This year's causes are Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center's Meadowlark House and Arts Without Boundaries. Here is some information on the Meadowlark House.

The Northern Rockies Radiation Oncology Center’s Meadowlark House is a free cancer patient lodging facility located on the west end of Billings. Be quested to the center by Kathryn & Preston Maynard, the two duplexes (four units) were renovated, furbished, and opened in 2004, with money raised through the annual Messiah Festival fundraiser. Dozens of patients per year now have a comfortable place to stay, free of charge, during their treatment. All money raised will be used to operate and maintain the facility, providing a haven for cancer patients who have driven hundreds of miles to get their cancer treatment in Billings.

Grudge To Play This Year's Event...

Growing up in Billings MT and surrounding areas was never the easiest life, but it brought life to what this band is all about what they will carry from it forever, GRUDGE. Singer Gerrick Phillips, guitarist Richard Candelaria, and bassist Brian Coleman had played in every band that had been in the city since they were 13 years old. Finally hooking up with each other proved to be the best solution. Phillips and Candelaria's songwriting collaborations gave GRUDGE a sound that struck a chord with fans, earning the band a response that was huge, even for small Northwestern city of Billings, MT.

The music of their debut album, Forgiveness, was defined by the rough times they had experienced in their first five years together, when released in 2001. The album, release on 7N/BMG entertainment had received critical acclaim globally. Such recognition landed GRUDGE in feature articles of major hard rock/metal publications like Hit Parader and BWBK and had allowed the group to share the stage with multiple metal legends, like an opening spot on the Judas Priest "World Domination" tour.

For years, GRUDGE has persisted to remain a dominant name in underground hard rock/heavy metal acts. GRUDGE is the band, who still finds their way through the smoke and onto the stage. They have carried the flag for heavy music, alongside others, and have never abandoned their raw nature. GRUDGE, true to their music, and their emotion. Ignoring trends and taking musical classification head-on, they continue to write from the head and from the heart.

The Photo Atlas to Headline this Year's Event

Concert For A Cause is pleased to announce The Photo Atlas as this year's headliner. This band hails from Denver, Colorado, however you may know their drummer, Nick Miles from previous local bands in the Billings, MT music scene. This band is sure to get you dancing and have a great time. Just be sure to bring your dancin shoes!

"The Photo Atlas is the result of uprotected sex between The Faint and At The Drive-In, although The Photo Atlas don’t sound derivative of either." - Alternative Press Magazine

The Photo Atlas recently released a 5 track e.p. "To Silently Provoke The Ghost" produced by
J. Robbins (Against Me!, Bayside, Jets To Brazil, Murder By Death, Mewithout You). The 5 track E.P. is filled with an array of aggressive indie dance punk beats, sonic styles and tempos, colored by personal and passionate lyrics. They create music naturally and instinctually, and as lead singer Alan Andrews says about the crafting of the E.P., “there was very little discussion when recording, we went into the studio and it was a silent progression. We were all on the same page and we are really looking forward to playing them live to get people moving.”

The beauty behind The Photo Atlas (Alan Andrews - Vocals/Guitar - Mark Hawkins – Bass - Bill Threlkeld III – Guitar - Nick Miles -Drums) is the brotherhood that encompasses the band. The Denver based quintet has been playing together for 5 years now. It was this relationship that was the adhesive behind the massive sound on To Silently Provoke The Ghost.

The Photo Atlas has clearly mastered their live performance. The band's dynamic indie dance rock tracks are coated with vital melodies, explosive guitar riffs and demanding drum beats, which bring a sense of movement to each song. The Photo Atlas has been keeping busy since their previous album release No, Not Me, Never playing 2008 summer festivals such as the Monolith Festival with the Silversun Pickups, Tokyo Police Club and Vampire Weekend as well as the Mile High Festival with Tom Petty, Warped Tour, SXSW, CMJ and most recently they performed at the XGAMES X FEST in Aspen, CO.

Immediate hits like “Class of 2012” and “Jealous Teeth” highlight the band’s ability to write complicated arrangements that are equally catchy. In songs like “Paper Trail”, Alan sings about people he has seen come and go in the Denver scene. One day Denver is the coolest place in the world, and the next day, people are just too cool for it and they move on.”

The group’s music blends the angularity and drive of Fugazi, the gut-punch of At The Drive-In and the infectiousness of Bloc Party all into one explosive little package.

Track listing for To Silently Provoke The Ghost:
Class of 2012
It’s Always About The Money
